What’s In My Shower – TAG!!!

Hey Everyone!!!

Now that it’s spring, I have decided to return to my regular schedule of uploading a new blog post every 1-3 days, and I will try my best to post daily during the summer when I will have a bit more time. Today, I will be covering the What’s In My Shower? tag that has been floating over the beauty blogging circuit for a few months now. This is going to be a little bit longer of a post, so let’s get started, shall we:

Shower Power: The Actual Bath

For any long-term subscribers of my blog, you are aware that I suffer from severely dry skin. It took me quite a few trial-and-errors with an array of floral-aromatic body washes and medicated moisturizers before I found this hidden gem: the Dove Deep Moisture Nourishing Body Wash (can be found and purchased here for $9.49). Dove is a company with an incredible reputation for creating lightweight products that are gentle enough to protect sensitive skin with the power to combat dry patches. This is my absolute favorite body wash to date!

A commonly misbelief in the beauty and skincare world is that a person with dry skin cannot exfoliate due to the fact that it will only serve to remove moisture from the face. However, a light exfoliant will remove the dry, dead patches on the face to reveal a new smooth and moisturized layer. My favorite gentle exfoliant is the St. Ives Invigorating Apricot Scrub (which can be found and purchased here for $3.79)

Now, this is by far the most expensive beauty-product that I have access to in my hair-care arsenal. The Nexxus Headress Weightless Leave-In Conditioner is meant for women with either severely dry or damaged hair. Not only does the product help remove dandruff and purge the hair of all dirt/impurities, but it also serves to restrengthen the hair, strand by strand. I specifically suggest this product to African American women with repeatedly relaxed hair.

Now, I will talk more about this product in my future Morrocan and Argan Oil post, but for now, I just wanted to show you the shampoo I use. Now, because I am usually either A) wearing extensions or B) edge control, I only was my hair about once a week. My favorite shampoo is the Creme of Nature with Argan Oil Sulfate-Free Moisture and Shine Shampoo (which can be found and purchased here for $6.49).

Ready for the Day: Right After the Shower

For someone with as bone-dry skin as mine, a powerful moisturizer is an absolute must. My current favorite is the Jergens Ultra Healing Extra Dry Skin Moisturizer (which can be found and purchased here for $6.29). Now, moisturizer is one of the few products that I change every few months due to the vast array of options available in the market today. Due to its admirable strength and low price, the Jergens moisturizer is a winner in my book!

Now, if you can’t tell I am a little obsessed with using natural oils in both my hair and skin. One of my favorite oils in use in my hair is olive oil, particular products from Organic Root Stimulator. Three of my favorite products from the brand include the Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Moisturizing Hair Lotion, Wrap/Set Mousse and Edge Control (all of which can be found and purchased here for less than $15). Once again, I will go into more detail in a following post, but I just love the natural aroma of Greece that these products leave along with the long-lasting benefits.

I am very meticulous in my hair-care routine, due to the fact that I had to actually shave my head due to the dryness of my hair. In addition to the Olive Oil mousse and hair lotion, I also add this Cantu Shea Butter Coconut Milk Shine and Hold Mist (which can be found and purchased here for $5.22). This mist not only serves to add a subtle shine, but it also serves as an adhesive to hold both tight curls and weightless waves. Plus, it smells like your on a tropical resort 🙂

Finally, the finishing touch of my hair is none other than Luster’s Pink Sheen Spray (which can be found and purchased here for $4.49). This sheen spray smells absolutely incredible – like the perfect mix of cotton candy, amorous apples and lively lavender. This spray highlights strands of hair in order to leave a beautiful sheen throughout the day. I never leave the house before spritzing at least a spray or two 🙂
