I’m Going to Mercedes-Benz/MADE Fashion Week: David Tlale Overview + GIVEAWAY!!!!

Hey Everyone!!!

Image

Welcome to my fourth post about my experience at New York Fashion Week. Today I will be posting about the incredible collection by David Tlale. Now, the beauty of fashion week is that you sometimes are able to get into shows that you weren’t originally invited to. This was the case for my experience at the David Tlale show, as I was given a spare invitation from a very kind friend. This show took place at the Pavilion, a more intimate setting similar to that of Milk Studios located at Lincoln Center.

ImageImageImageImage

Music: The David Tlale had the most soft, alluring music of all the shows that I was able to attend. I wish that I could have asked the editor who composed the pieces, as it was absolutely beautiful. Imagine living in a majestic world of faeries who wore amazing clothing – this was the David Tlale show. The mix of beautiful piano pieces and strong ballads emphasized the femininity of the collection.

ImageImageImageImage

Beauty: Brows, brows brows!!! I couldn’t help but notice that one of the consistent factors of the show were full, strong brows with a prominent arch. Along with this, the models were also given a subtle makeup look with excess amounts of highlighter and bronzer to add dimension to the face. The hairstyles were very sleek, all of which led to a very soft and feminine appeal.

ImageImageImageImage

Clothing: Now, time to get the most important aspect of every fashion show: the clothing! This collection was absolutely amazing. Unlike the Czar or Ostwald Helgason collection, David Tlale’s clothing had very little to no masculine themes — the clothing screamed classic femininity through the use of soft fabrics, flowing silhouettes and tasteful sequin. The clothing were excellently created, however, there wasn’t too much concentration on construction. All in all, I am in awe of the collection – even if my personal preference calls for a few more edgy accessories.

Image

Image

This is just a photo of what I wore to the show. I really love the intricacy of the tweed trench coat and the bright pop of color found in the red sweater. Also, remember that my giveaway for a LORAC Pro Palette is still open here!!!!

Fashion Fanatic: Constance Billiard School For Girls Style Transformation (Gossip Girl)

Hey Everyone!!!

Welcome to today’s special edition of Fashion Fanatic! This time, instead of showing my top 5 favorite outfits from a TV series, I will be showing the transformation in style of one of the most influential fictional high schools of all time: Constance Billiard School for Girls of Manhattan, NYC. In the same way that characters change and develop throughout a series, the style reflects that growth. Let’s take a trip down memory lane and look at these outfits:

Season 1 and 2: The Reign of Blair Waldorf – Preppy Chic

Image

The photos above can be found here and here. All hail the original Queen B of Constance and all of the Upper East Side, Ms. Blair Waldorf. Blair exudes an endless amount of class and sophistication through her wardrobe. Her style was emulated through her minions, who wore variations of Blair’s wardrobe. The daily outfits included tights, midi heels, petticoats, printed trench coats, headbands and expensive handbags. This time period of CBSFG style can be described as classy, preppy and sophisticated.

Season 3 and 4: The Reign of Jenny Humphrey – Grungy Chic

Image

The photos above can be found here and here. In the undying words of former queen Blair, say hello to the “Gothic Barbie”, Jenny Humphrey. Queen J completely revamped the original Constance style by incorporating a punk, grungy edge to the traditional silhouette. Jenny’s style concentrated on punk and gothic inspired pieces with a slight hint of sex appeal. The daily outfits included sheer tights, leather booties and jackets, loose ties and miniskirts. This time period of CBSFG style can be described as tough, edgy, sexy and punk.

Season 5 and 6: The Reign of Sage Spence – Boho Chic

Image

The photo above can be found here. Finally, we welcome the Boho Beauty of the Upper East Side, Sage Spence. Unlike Jenny and Blair, Sage was not apart of the main cast for the earlier seasons, so we only got a minimal look into her character. However, from the short period we did have her, we saw that her style exudes a more relaxed feel than the former queens. The daily outfits included cardigans, jean jackets, airy fabrics, bulky jewelry and hats. This time period of CSFG can be described by earth tones, bohemian inspirations and airy fabrics.

My personal favorite CSFG style time period is:

Style Savvy: 4 Holiday Party Outfits

Hey Everyone!!!

Sorry that I have been able to post for a few days, I have been so busy with getting caught up on work. But now marks the first day of WINTER BREAK and I’m so excited for the upcoming holidays. Now, for the next week of so, many of you will be going to the annual pattern of events known as holiday parties. It can be a little difficult to determine what to wear at these events, so today, I have compiled a list of outfits that would be perfect for the outing.

1. Holiday Party Outfit: Gold Glitter

Image

This look is perfect for any girl who wants to be the center of attention. Sequin is a great, bold finish for those who want a wearable shine to their ensemble. The flared, tulle skirt of the dress is both flattering by minimizing the waist and adding shape to the hips for a more hourglass figure. A plain black belt can be added to the look to once again minimize the waist. Finally, black tights, sky-high stilettos and a deep red lip complete this holiday show stopper!

2. Holiday Party Outfit: White With a Kick

Image

Some girls love to mix minimization with exaggeration, which is the exact description of this ensemble. By matching this plain, white dress with a golden belt and red pumps, the accessories are the main players in the look. A gold necklace, with a matching belt and bangle set, we keep the color scheme consistent. Finally, a red lip and bronzed skin finish off this look with simplicity and bold glamour.

3. Holiday Party Outfit: Dark and Sophisticated

Image

Now, this is for my girls who enjoy a deep, mysterious wardrobe for the holidays. By adding a beautiful black dress with some form of design, such as this starlit-sky inspired look, with a beautiful black trench coat, you add a sensual, flattering look. Silver accessories are a must when going for a more sophisticated look, so a silver chain necklace and matching earrings are a must. Finally, a sultry smokey eye with deep purples and pinks finish off this look.

4. Holiday Party Outfit: Classic Beauty

Image

When a person thinks of the holidays, the first image that comes to mind is the iconic red dress. This beautiful little number, that only costs $20.00 at Forever 21, is the perfect dress for women of any body type. Staying of the trend of gold accessories, this dress is matched with golden heels and a beautiful wristwatch. A black blazer with leather accents adds an edge to your outfit, while a matching red and gold clutch finishes off the clothing. A neutral eye and bright red lip completes this classic holiday look for the party of your life!

Designer Decoding: Katie Gallagher

Hey Everyone!!!

Following my post on the dearly deceased and established designer Alexander McQueen, I once again decided to concentrate on an up and coming designer. Today, I wish to give a spotlight to the hypnotically beautiful and talented Katie Gallagher. Her aesthetic is dark, mysterious and inspired by nature. She concentrates on both ready to wear looks and haute couture pieces. Here we go:

Background Information

Photo: 1

Born on August, 15 1986 in Western Pennsylvania, Ms. Gallagher did not come from a fashion capital. As a child, Gallagher has claimed that she “never wore shoes” and “hated wearing clothes”. She later attended the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design for apparel design. She was incredibly successful in school, participating in internships with Anna Sui during her sophomore year and threeASFOUR during her junior year. Her senior year collection was a symbol of her gothic aesthetic, being completely comprised on black. Her first fashion show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week would be only three months following her graduation during September 2009 at the Tribeca Grand.

Runway Looks

Image

These looks all appeared in one of Gallagher’s first collections, named “Shroud”. This collection once again concentrated on Gallagher’s use of black, but it also demonstrates her talent for draping. Now, drapery has become a lost talent for new designers–too many concentrate purely on creativity and construction. While some may find it quite strange, I also love her use of mask on the model, as it exaggerates the mysterious nature of her clothing.

Photo: 1,2 and 3

In my opinion, Gallagher’s Spring and Summer 2013 collection (seen above) is not only my favorite collection to come from her, but also demonstrate her versatility. While the cutouts and body con fit allow for the looks to continue to be edgy, the light cream colored fabric and gold accessories give a slight touch of glamour to the look. Once I so this collection, I realized that Ms. Gallagher is not just any run of the mill designer–she is a legacy in the making.

Image

This is a photo of R & B star Keyshia Cole in a Rebecca Minkoff pant, Giuseppe Zanotti black booties and a Katie Gallagher coat. This is one of the best examples of constructions that I have ever seen, and the jacket fits perfectly on Ms. Cole’s frame. I am also in awe of the color, which is the most beautiful shade of yellow that I have ever feasted my eyes on.

Image

Photo: 1 and 2

My second celebrity that Ms. Gallagher has dressed is….herself! I think that wearing your own clothing is the best type of advertisement. Ms. Gallagher wore this dress to Wildfox Swim Cruise 2014, and for this reason the sheer material is appropriate for the event. I just love how she keeps her aesthetic at an unrelated event-it shows her dedication to her style. I really do believe that Ms. Gallagher will continue to grow, and I hope that I have the ability to see her show in this upcoming Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

How Much is My Face Worth Tag!

Hey Everyone!!!!

Today is a special blog post on the “How Much Is My Face Worth Tag”! I saw this tag all throughout the blogosphere, and since I am slated for another Fashion Fanatic tomorrow, I have decided to try it out. I found this very interesting, as I have never concentrated on the price on my makeup since I have accumulated my collection for the last 3 years. However, Once I did this tag, I realized how much time and money actually goes into my daily beauty routine. Let us start now:

No Makeup

Image

Image

Both of these pictures are taken of me right after I took a shower. My face was cleansed using a Neutrogena citrus facial cleanser and some organic makeup cleansing wipes. While my skin is pretty clear at the moment, I have very bad hyper-pigmentation on my eyelids and my undereye area. I also have very bushy eyebrows (I know, I need to wax, but I haven’t had the time).

Makeup

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Wear Concealer in Extra Deep 06 ($23.00)

MAC Studio Tech Powder in NW58 ($31.00)

Image

Eye Makeup

Wet N’ Wild Mega Eyes Eyeshadow Trio ($4.50)

MAC Paint Pot in Groundwork ($21.00)

MAC In Extreme Dimension Mascara in Black Drama ($21.00)

Estee Lauder Pure Color Intense Kajal Eyeliner Duo in Blackest Black/Blackend Cocco ($21.00)

Maybelline Big Eye Mascara in Brown-Black {bottom lashes} ($7.49)

MAC Eyeshadow in Embark ($15.00)

Image

Lip Makeup

Maybelline Color Sensational in Chocalat ($3.49)

L’Oreal Paris Colour Richie Lip Glos ($8.95)

Image

Cheek Makeup

MAC Powder Blush in Sweet as Cocoa ($21.00)

MAC Eyeshadow in Embark ($15.00)

Lightest Color on Eyeshadow Palette

All in all, I spend over $171.43 in makeup on my face, and that is not including brushes. I was astounded by how much my daily makeup routine cost me, however, I realized that we invest a lot of money into how we present ourselves. On that note, I feel that in this particular photo, I prefer my non-makeup face to my makeup one, but in real life, I prefer wearing a little makeup.

As a little note for this blog post, I just wanted to say that every single person who reads this blog should look themselves in the mirror and say “I am beautiful” until they believe it, unconditionally. The only “ugly” things in the world are personalities; beauty is found in all. I think that all of you are beautiful.

Trend Thursday: Ankle Booties and Gel Eyeliner

Hey Everyone!!!

I am so sorry for the lack of post this week! I have been very sickly lately, and I have barely been able to get out of bed let alone write an appropriate post for all of my fabulous readers. For the second week, I have made a Trend Thursday post on Saturday, but the overall idea has stayed the same. These are trends that I have been loving for the fall, particularly a fashion trend and a beauty trend. I actually have been loving these two trends for my entire fashion life, and I use them on almost a daily basis. Here you go:

Image

I am obsessed with ankle booties in every shape and form!!!! They are able to make your feet look smaller, add height to your frame, and they are so much more comfortable then heels. They are also great for the autumn as they are as warm and sweat inducing as boots but they aren’t as cooling as sandals or oxfords. In the picture above, I included everything from western cowgirl boots to tough leather booties for a night on the town. For all girls who are starting out on fall fashion trends, ankle booties would be one of my top picks.

Image

Intense gel eyeliner is one of the most beautiful makeup trends that I have ever seen in my life. Traditional eyeliner is used to add some definition to your eyes and make your lash line look thicker. However, with the creation of liquid and gel eyeliner, beauty trends became much more intense. Now, eyeliner can be used to completely change the look of your lids and add attention to your eyes. While gel and liquid eyeliner can be a little tricky the first few times you apply it, practice makes perfect. I particularly recommend the Bobbi Brown Eyeliner and Maybelline Gel Eyeliner.

Fashion Fanatic: Top 5 Gossip Girl Semiformal (Short) Dresses

Hey Everyone!!!

Today is the last current installment of this week’s Fashion Fanatic. I felt that even though Gossip Girl had a large amount of evening events, they also had certain events that the characters had to attend that wasn’t casual enough to wear everyday clothes but not formal enough to wear a gown. The girls would then choose some beautiful semiformal dresses and use those events as there own personal runways. Here, I have compiled my top 5 looks from these events. Here they are:

5. Blair Waldorf in episode 1×18 “Much ‘I Do’ About Nothing”

Image

This is the dress that Blair wore to the wedding of Bart Bass and Lily Van Der Woodsen in there first season marriage of the century (or season). Even though Queen B is cruel and rules Constance with an iron fist, I love how she dresses in such feminine and classic pieces. This dress is very complimentary of Blair’s petite frame, and the pink color as a rosy glow to her perfect skin. I guess sometimes the Queen has permission to dress like a princess.

4. Serena Van Der Woodsen in episode 4×01 “Belles de Jour”

Image

Image

Now, I am cheating a little bit here 🙂 This dress was meant to be a casual outing while Blair and Serena explored the streets of Paris, however, I thought it was much too beautiful not to included. Blake’s one of the kind body deserved this beautiful one of a kind golden-sequined cage inspired dress. This, along with her low-maintenance fedora and cute nude-colored oxfords complete this look for either a nice lunch date or a semiformal event!

3. TIE – Serena Van Der Woodsen in episode 6×07 “Save the Last Chance” and episode 5×08 “All the Pretty Sources”

Image

Image

I tried and tried, but I couldn’t decide between two of these beautiful dresses worn by our own Serena Van Der Woodsen. During the final two seasons of Gossip Girl, Serena went to a plethora of events that required her to dress in semiformal gowns, and she always knew how to compliment her tall, buxom frame. The dress on the top is a gorgeous use of a bustier along with sequin, and adds even more shape to Serena’s figure. The dress on the bottom is styled to perfection using long stranded pears, with panels that add an interesting touch to the printed dress.

2. Blair Waldorf in Episode 2×01 “Summer Kind of Love”

Image

While I personally prefered Serena’s Grecian inspired gown for the event, I felt that it was a bit too formal for the event. Queen B keeps thing slightly more casual with this beautiful take on a bandage dress, styled with white heels and Blair’s signature headband. This dress hugs Leighton’s curves in all of the write places, and the length of the dress allows Blair to show off her killer gams for once. I especially love the pearl bracelet that Queen B wears, as I feel that it completes the look.

Image

I just had to add this picture of Chuck and Blair because, well, its CHUCK BASS IN ALL WHITE!!!

1. Serena Van Der Woodsen from episode 3×03 “The Lost Boy”

Image

The winner just had to be Serena Van Der Woodsen in plum colored Herve Ledger! I love everything about this gown on Serena, from the fit, to the cut, to the length, the shoes OMG 🙂 The cutout bust allows for Serena to show off her killer bust without showing too much, which she has a tendency to do in traditionally V-neck gowns. The golden heels compliment the plum colored bandage dress, and elongate the 5’10” actresses amazing and legendary legs. Finally, the bandage nature of the dress clings to Serena’s perfect body like it’s nobody’s business, which leads to the creation of the perfect gown!

P.S. Join me next week for another segment of Fashion Fanatic for: Pretty Little Liars!!!

Trend Thursday: Peplum Jackets and Plum Lipstick

Hey Everyone!!!

It’s actually Thursday LOL. I am so excited for this week’s installment of Trend Thursday. I will keep the trends current, so all of the Thursday’s will be based on fall trends. This week I have been really into a new trend and a classic favorite, which is a new type of outerwear along with a beautiful shade of dark lipsticks. I hope you like the reviews and here we go:

Image

During the autumn months, the temperature begins to fall and its time to take out your cutest coats and strut down the streets as your runway. Now, we have all had the fleece and leather coats, but a new trend of peplum coats have hit the racks. Peplum is known as the use of an overskirt in order to add some shape to your hips and hide a possible food baby from the public. I have been loving these jackets and how they appear over tighter clothing!!! They are one of my favorite discoveries of the autumn months.

Image

This personal trend has been an autumn staple for as long as women can remember. Deep plum lips add a sense of mystery and seduction to the lips, and are perfect during the colder months to add a bold color to your makeup. One of the things that I have always loved about plum lipstick is how versatile the color is on women of all colors. As I have said before, I have a NW58 skin tone, and I find it difficult to find colors that look good on my skin. This staple looks absolutely incredible on my lips, and I will never tire of this classic and sophisticated trend.

Fashion Fanatic: Top 5 Gossip Girl Evening Gowns

Hey Everyone!!!
As you all know, I have decided to dedicate this entire week to my top 5 outfits from the teen phenomena that is and was Gossip Girl. For today, I decided to concentrate on the evening gowns from the show. Due to residing in the filthy rich society in the Upper East Side, the members of the Gossip Girl society were always having to dress in the most expensive and glamorous dresses for certain events. For Blair Waldorf, Jenny Humphrey and Serena Van Der Woodsen, these events were almost contest for who could rule the hallways of school and the runways that were charity events and opera theaters. This is my top 5 outfits:
5. TIE – Serena Van der Woodsen from episode 5×13 “G.G.” and episode 2×01 “Summer Kind of Wonderful”

This is the maid of honor dress that S wore to Blair’s wedding to Prince Louis Grimaldi. While the rest of the bridesmaids wore quite “interesting” single-strapped peach dresses with a large pleated skirt, Serena’s gown made all of there ensembles look like the first project in a sewing class. The gown looks absolutely perfect on her frame, and she actually steals the spotlight away from our bride 🙂

This is the grecian gown that Serena wears to the White Party during her season 2 premiere. The only reason that this dress is not number 1 is due to simplicity of the style, but I cannot find any other flaw with this look. This is most likely the most innovative use of a plain white gown that I have ever feasted my eyes upon, and it is perfection.
4. Blair Waldorf from episode 6×10 “New York, I Love You: X.O.X.O”

This beautiful baby blue floral gown that Blair wore to her wedding to Chuck Bass (insert fangirl squeal here) was exactly what I had imagined that Queen B would look like on her wedding day. I feel that blue has always been Blair’s color, and that the style of the gown is very sophisticated and chic. Most of all, the golden headband is the most iconic fashion accessory to ever grace the Gossip Girl screen.
3. Blair Waldorf from an unknown episode in Season 4 (Paris Arc)
This parisian dress makes Blair Waldorf look like the princess that she knows she is. The ruffles on the bodice add shape to Leighton’s petite frame, while the color is as bold as it is glamorous. The shoes are absolutely perfect, and completely revoke the fashion rule of never wearing pink with red. Finally, Blair’s red lip just ties this Parisian gown of perfection in a neat little bow.
2. Serena Van Der Woodsen from episode 4×08 “Juliet Doesn’t Live Here Anymore”
This gown by Zuhair Murad is arguably the most beautiful gown to ever grace my eyes. Not only does the body con lining allow for the audience to gawk of Serena’s beautiful legs, but the intricate lace details that cover the lining are absolutely incredible. This dress proves to the audience that Serena will always be the It-girl of the upper east side!

1. Blair Waldorf in Episode 2×24 “Valley Girls”

The reason that Blair’s one of a kind Marchesa gown from her senior prom made #1 on this list is not only because of this great beauty, but its status as an icon. This dress completely changed the way that young women say prom, and reinvigorated the fad of buying designer dresses for that special day. This dress looks absolutely marvelous on our Prom Queen, with golden details that make Blair appear as a powerful and majestic bird. That Chuck Bass gave her the gown is only icing to the cake of this symbol of beauty.
